John W. Chang, MD
General and Cosmetic Surgeon
Partner and Medical Director of Soluna MD
John W. Chang is a general and cosmetic surgeon with extensive and varied medical training, a notable education and an unwavering commitment to excellence. He is passionate and dedicated to his profession, continuously mastering new advancements in technology, treatments and procedures; this knowledge is passed on to the benefit of each patient. Equally, patient safety, care and satisfaction are Chang’s priorities.
Having successfully performed thousands of general and cosmetic surgery procedures throughout his career, Chang – as partner and medical director of Soluna MD -- has helped cement the center’s position as one of the most respected, minimally invasive cosmetic surgery and weight-management facilities in South Florida, with a loyal patient-client following from the U.S., Latin America and Europe. As a surgeon with broad training in trauma, general, venous and cosmetic surgery, Chang draws upon his wide-ranging surgical experience to guide him in making sound medical decisions for his cosmetic surgery patients and places great emphasis on preparedness -- regardless of how simple the procedure.
“A good surgeon is always prepared for anything, and the proof that a surgeon makes this a rule of practice is evident in the finest details of their work and exemplary end-results,” says Chang.
Chang graduated with honors from Northwestern University Medical School in 1997, moving forward to fulfill his general and trauma surgery internship and residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center on Miami Beach, Florida in 2002. During this period, he was also an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor. Upon completion of his duties at Mount Sinai, Chang accepted the position of attending general surgeon with Memorial Healthcare System in Broward County, Florida, sharpening his surgical skill set there for four years. In 2006, Chang selected two areas of specialization – cosmetic and venous surgery – joining the surgical team at South Florida’s renowned Guylaine Lanctot Cliniques.
While remaining a member of the surgical group at Guylaine Lanctot Cliniques, Chang joined Soluna MD as partner and medical director in 2007. In 2008, he left Guylaine Lanctot Cliniques to dedicate his time to Soluna MD.
“Soluna MD has given me the opportunity to grow as an autonomous cosmetic surgeon,” explains Chang. “Because someone else is looking after the business of the practice, I enjoy the luxury of getting to do what I do best -- and what I love -- taking care of patients. My business partner, Alan Khoriaty, the staff and I have great chemistry, and we work as a team to ensure that we are providing the best service possible to every Soluna MD patient.”
Due to the successes Chang has contributed to Soluna MD’s flagship facility at The Village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables, Soluna MD is expanding nationally with the Soluna MD Development Program. This turnkey licensing program presents qualified physician-investors with the option to own and operate Soluna MD in their city of preference, with comprehensive support and guidance from the core Soluna MD group.
What separates Soluna MD from other centers is that minimally invasive cosmetic surgery procedures, as well as skin rejuvenation treatments and weight management programs, are the fundamentals of the business. Its services are not add-ons, but specializations.
In addition to his training in general surgery, Chang has been specially trained in a number of cosmetic surgery procedures. He is certified in Liposuction, Smartlipo, Ultrasound Liposuction, Vaser and Lysonix Ultrasculpt; all injectables and fillers, such as Botox, Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse and Sculptra; and Sclerotherapy and Endovenous Laser Treatments (EVLT). Chang is a certified trainer for Smartlipo and Lysonix. Moreover, he is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, American Association of Cosmetic Surgery, American Society of Liposuction Surgery and the American College of Phlebology.
Chang personally sees to it that every procedure and treatment is performed flawlessly and the patient receives his honest, expert opinion in regards to expectations, results, risks and complications.
“It’s my job to look after the well-being of every patient,” concludes Chang. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
